YouTube PIP & Downloader

Update 11-19-23: There have been recent reports that the shortcut is broken. In my testing it still works but feel free to send me links to videos it doesn’t work on. That said, I’m not currently updating the shortcut so sorry if it’s not working. This is a simple shortcut to enable Picture-In-Picture (PIP) and downloading of YouTube videos. It is run from the Share sheet of the browser on the YouTube app or website. It doesn’t require any other apps to be installed on your device. I shared this due to a high number of recent requests for this type of shortcut. Features include: Picture-In-Picture play from YouTube app or Safari Quick PIP Mode enable this mode for the shortcut to jump you directly into PIP mode without asking if you want to download the video Download YouTube Videos without needing any other program Save Audio from videos Trim videos or audio files downloaded from YouTube DISCLAIMER: PLEASE BE RESPONSIBLE AND RESPECT COPYRIGHT. BE AWARE: To use PIP, run the shortcut from the share sheet and then swipe up from the full-screen video which opens In Safari, the shortcut may need to be run from the share sheet, not from the website’s share area. If for some reason the shortcut doesn’t work from the share sheet, try using the mobile website some videos are protected with encryption by YouTube. These videos may not play in pip or download from the YouTube app. The shortcut should open a new Safari tab to play these videos. The shortcut should work if run on the video from there.
