Scrolling Screenshot: Save Full Page PDF as Long Image

ANNOUNCEMENT: In the new iOS 17 update, users can now save full-page screenshots directly as images in the Photos app. This is an improvement from only being able to save them as PDF files in the Files app. While iOS 17 users benefit from this direct image-save feature, the shortcut remains relevant for users on iOS 16 and earlier versions, who do not have this capability. However, even with iOS 17, this shortcut is not entirely obsolete. One limitation of iOS 17 is that these saved images aren't placed in the "Screenshots" media type section, making them harder to find later on. This shortcut provides a solution by automatically saving these images to a dedicated "Long Screenshots" album in your Photos app so that you can easily find them in the future. Additionally, the shortcut retains a unique function for those needing to convert multi-page PDF files into a single long image, which makes it still helpful for this purpose. MAIN FEATURE ———Taking A Long Screenshot——— Introduction: This shortcut will help you take scrolling screenshots like an Android device, which means the long screenshot will be saved as a long image (instead of the iOS method of saving a long screenshot as a PDF file. Since the PDF file is separated from the rest of the photos, it is pretty inconvenient to view this long PDF again). With my shortcut, all the long screenshots will be saved as PNG images in the album “Long Screenshots” in the Photos app so that it will be much quicker and more convenient to view or switch between different long screenshots. GUIDE TO USE: I will tell the guide as detailed as possible (with guide videos included for each case). Therefore, it may appear to have many steps but once you get used to it, taking a long screenshot with my shortcut will be very easy and much faster than what the guide below shows. CASE 1: If you want to take a scrolling screenshot from a browser (such as Safari). Step 1: Take a screenshot in a browser that supports taking full-page PDFs (Chrome, Brave, Safari, Edge…) Step 2: Choose the screenshot preview that appears in the bottom left corner of the screen. Step 3: Choose “Full Page” Step 4: Choose the share button in the top right corner Step 5: Choose the shortcut “Save PDF as Long Screenshot” in the share sheet. After the shortcut run, close the share sheet. Step 6: Click “Done”, then choose “Delete Screenshot” (to prevent having a short/normal screenshot beside the long/scrolling screenshot) —> The long screenshot will now be saved to the album “Long Screenshots” in Photos. =>Guide video (example with the Safari browser): https://youtube.com/shorts/1OsNssu7MIw?feature=share CASE 2: If you want to take a scrolling screenshot from an app (such as Facebook, Quora, Reddit, etc.) Step 1: Choose the share button for the article/post from this app. (The share button is located at different positions depending on different apps, but it is not hard to spot the share button) Step 2: Choose your browser icon (Google Chrome, Brave, Edge, etc.) to open the link of that article/post in that chosen browser Step 3: Take a screenshot in a browser that supports taking full-page PDFs (Chrome, Brave, Safari, Edge…) Step 4: Choose the screenshot preview that appears in the bottom left corner of the screen. Step 5: Choose “Full Page” Step 6: Choose the share button in the top right corner Step 7: Choose the shortcut “Save PDF as Long Screenshot” in the share sheet. After the shortcut run, close the share sheet. Step 8: Click “Done”, then choose “Delete Screenshot”. —> The long screenshot will now be saved to the album “Long Screenshots” in Photos. =>Guide video (example with the Quora app): https://youtu.be/lnLMTOV3AT8 *In my case, when opening a link from an app (Quora) to a browser, I chose Chrome for convenience although my default browser is Safari. This is because opening the link in Safari can only be done by using another shortcut (such as the shortcut “Open Link in Safari”: ), choosing Chrome is just more simple and straightforward. Note : In iOS 16 and earlier versions, when you crop a 'Full Page' screenshot and proceed to save, the 'Save to Photos' option will appear. This option can be misleading because it only saves the standard screenshot, not the long screenshot or the cropped long screenshot. The only option to save your cropped content is 'Save PDF to Files'. You can tell me if the shortcut doesn't work. This shortcut can work on long pages, but I do not guarantee that the shortcut will work on super-long pages because maybe the image is too long for the shortcut to handle. ——————————————— AUXILIARY FEATURE This shortcut lets you turn a PDF with multiple pages into a single, continuous image. It works by combining all pages of the PDF file vertically, so you can see everything by scrolling down, just like you would in a web browser. This makes it simpler to read short documents like instruction manuals without having to swipe through each page. How to transform a multi-page PDF into a scrollable image: In the Files app (or wherever your PDF is stored), select the PDF file you want to convert. Hit the "Share" button. Look for "Save PDF as Long Image" in the share sheet and choose it. The shortcut will convert the PDF into a vertical image and save it into the "Long Screenshots" album in your Photos app. Now, multi-page PDFs can be viewed as one long, scrollable image easily.
