What this shortcut does
👉 Get Shortcut without Login OS Compatibility macOS No ≥ iOS 15 Yes Instagram Download downloads photos and videos from posts, stories, highlights, reels and profiles. Videos can be downloaded at up to 2160p60 HDR . You can also download media from private accounts that you follow. The free Scriptable and a-Shell mini apps are required. You can use a-Shell (much bigger) instead of a-Shell mini . How to Use Tap the paper airplane button on a post or story, select ‘ Share to… ’ then Instagram Download . After downloading, it returns to the Scriptable browser. You can download additional media. Do not leave the browser window open in the background for a long time. You can also use the ⏹️ button at the bottom right corner in the Scriptable browser to download the current page’s media. To access it, run the shortcut from the Shortcuts app and select ‘ Open Instagram in Scriptable ’. This is useful when downloading a profile picture or a private account’s stories without the paper airplane button. Sharing from Safari is also supported. Please note that it may not download highest quality sometimes. User Settings You can change user settings by running Instagram Download from the Shortcuts app. To change folder or album, toggle the Save to Files/Photos option off and on. VP9 vs HEVC vs H.264 Sometimes Instagram provides high quality videos in an iOS-incompatible format (VP9). You can choose to keep the original format for best quality, but it cannot be saved or played in Photos . When a selection of media contains any VP9 videos, all including images will be saved to Files regardless of your user settings. HEVC (aka H.265) is known to have better quality and a smaller file size than H.264 in general. a-Shell mini ’s video tool ffmpeg is required to convert them to a compatible format (H.265). The shortcut will switch to a-Shell mini to stay in the foreground to process videos.
