What this shortcut does
ANNOUNCEMENT 1 (20 July 2023): My old shortcut suddenly works again although I do not change or update anything. Maybe Google recently changed how their reverse image search mechanism works so it made my shortcut functional again. ——————————— INTRODUCTION (no need to read, you can quickly jump to the “how to use” part below) Short description: It can search on Google for saved images on your devices as well as online images from websites. The search result is the same/similar images from other websites on the Internet. Long description: As I have tested, all the old Google Reverse Image Search shortcuts (or shortcuts that have similar names and share the same function) in do not work anymore because of either the changes in Google Image Search or the changes of iOS. Not only but also the entirety of the Internet (such as Reddit and other shortcut websites) did not have any new Google Reverse Image Search shortcut that can work. People don’t care about the Google Reverse Image Search shortcut anymore. The shortcut that uses an image to search in Google is so necessary & so convenient that it is like a basic right for iOS users, especially the ones that use Safari instead of Chrome/Edge. Therefore, I decided to upload to my "Google Reverse Image Search" which can work well as I tested on 20 July 2023. HOW TO USE To search on Google for the image that you have saved to your iPhone/iPad, choose the share button and select this shortcut "Google Reverse Image Search". When browsing websites on Safari, to search for an image on a website, you touch & hold that image until the options show up, choose "share", and then choose this shortcut. *The result will be shown on the Google Lens website but then you can just click “Find image source” so that it can search on Google Image for the same/similar images from other sources. ANNOUNCEMENT 2 (20 July 2023): If my shortcut does not function again in the future, there is a solution. The "Google" app now includes a built-in shortcut called "Search with Google Lens" which supports online image URLs (previously, this shortcut from Google only worked for offline saved images) To utilize this feature, simply install the "Google" app from the App Store. The "Search with Google Lens" shortcut will automatically appear in your share sheet. Since the “Google” app can do the same as my shortcut for reverse image searches, you can use it instead (if my shortcut stops working in the future). I probably won’t be updating my shortcut anymore. Thank you for your understanding and consideration.
