# Google Translate Selected Text | Shortcuts Library

> Open selected in Google Translate web app

## What this shortcut does

This shortcut opens text selected in the Google Translate web page via the Share Sheet. Installation of the Google Translate iOS app is not required. I use this as a language learner for saving words and text snippets in Google Translate and then export saved words into Google Sheets and Anki on my desktop.
Additional Notes
Based on the URL used, the shortcut will auto detect the source language of the text selected.
As of Version 2.0, the user is prompted to select the default target language (i.e. the language that the text will be translated into)
For Version 1.x the default target language is English. This can be changed by replacing all instances of ‘en’ in the translate.google.com URL with the ISO 639 two letter code abbreviation for your desired language (fr for French, es for Spanish, de for German, etc.).
Please lookup the ISO 639 two letter code for your target language here.
